That Girl With the Sparkly Heels?

If anyone noticed.... I changed my URL for this blog. It was..... hefishessherides.blogspot.com but I have disliked that name ever since I created it. I am giving the blog a little bit of a make over, starting with the URL.

I can't remember where I was when some one said this to me, but I was somewhere wearing my totally awesome sparkly high heels. I went to the bathroom, and someone said quite loudly, "Ooohhhh!! There is that girl with the sparkly heels!!!"

For whatever reason, that stuck with me, and I thought it would be a totally cute name. I wanted to change it to something about being a newlywed, but I am no longer a newlywed. I kind of thought I could hold out until I became pregnant, and this blog could serve as a catalog of pregnancy and new motherhood. I am not as fertile as I thought.... and I can't hold out anymore. The whole, "He Fishes, She Rides" isn't even accurate anymore, Tim certainly still fishes, but I have to say, I think I have fished more than I have ridden in the past 3 years!

Also, I just watched Shoppaholic, and the name, "The Girl in the Green Scarf" is just so dern cute!! (yes, my Texan accent was pretty strong when I said 'dern cute'!)

So, here it is.... a little bit of a revamp!!

People Are Crazy

March includes so many exciting things. Spring, SPRING BREAK, only 10 more weeks in the school year, and most importantly, the Houston Rodeo!! For all of my family not living in Texas, I will give you a little bit of background information. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a HUGE event- not just some tent that is set up with some cowboys and cowgirls with piddly little horses. It is 21 days of country star-studded good time! You just have to be here- I promise, its worth it.

We had a few shows in mind to go to, but they were all during Spring Break- the last week... and I did NOT want to wait that long. I was in luck, though, because one of Tim's employees gave us 2 tickets in the action seats (WAY down close) to Billy Currington. He is not my fave, but I would never turn down rodeo tickets! We went and had a blast! We were wishing that we would have gone even earlier to see more of the actual rodeo. We made it in time for me to fall in love with one of the official's horses, to watch the bull riding, calf scramble, barrel racing, chuck wagon races, and mutton busting... and of course,- Billy Currington.

Here are some of our pictures:

Having a blast!!

Some of the barrel racers, so fast!

This is the calf scramble, where about 24 calves are released into the hungry arms of 48 FFA teenagers. If they can run they down, halter them, and walk them into the center, they get a free calf to raise for their FFA project for the next year. When they sell them at auction, sometimes the winning steers get over $500,000! Crazy! So much scholarship money is raised during the rodeo!

Here is the horse that I fell in love with!

Billy Currington!
On the way out, luckily Saturday shows start and end early....
poor Tim started getting his flu symptoms this night.
Poor guy!
All in all, it was a great time!

Rodeos still planned?
Miranda Lambert- will be a FUN girl's night with Jamie, April, Adriana, and Sarah (and one of April's students will be doing Mutton Bustin' this night!!)

Zac Brown Band

Brad Paisley

and last but certainly not least,

Jason Aldean one of our total FAVES!!

Look for more rodeo updates to come!!
